Is an AB-Philosophy graduate of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, where she was National Press Club-McDonald’s scholar and chairman of the Philosophical Society for an unprecedented two years, editor in chief of the college yearbook, and department representative to the College ofSocial Sciences and Philosophy Council. She was only 12 when she won her first literary award (on the spot English essay in Metro Manila)

President of GUMIL Filipinas (1989-1991), grantee of the Philippines Writers Foundation of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1982 for Iloko epic poetry, and again CCP grantee for Iloko short story and drama in 1988 and 1990 respectively; one of the recipients of the Pedro Bucaneg Award, the highest award given by GUMIL Filipinas for literary excellence, in 1993. Born in Santa, Ilocos Sur.
