sonnet 147
ni honor blanco cabie
what pride and pleasant feeling indeed it is
to see one’s child alive with dancing feet!
from where she is on stage he parents’ bliss
she may not see, their eyes she does not meet;
her part is just a minor one among
the scores who either dance or use their tongue;
but a chord she forms as in a lilting song
that makes one happy, one be old or young;
her stint on stage will surely help her find
the elusive confidence in self that oft
has been the dream of nervous knees, the kind
that one would love to watch-so tough yet soft;
there seems to be an eternity between
the start and the curtain call-more felt that seen.
