ingatok dagitoy matak, kasta

tawen idatonko ‘toy yamanko
iti inyetnagna a salaknibna,

Sonnet (01.09.09)
beyond the words that jabbed my wakened eyes
i found me once more, right there up the stage
of human bonds, where i am in a rage,
with all my body and soul, in worthy a prize.
the words, most welcome, helped me once more find
the lost me and my alphabet of bliss;
at once i found anew my sense of peace,
which soothed as quickly here my heart and mind.
i’ll etch the words in my own birthstone, deep
within the sanctum of my fenced off side,
that place where i will always run to should
i find me near the cliffs which make me weep.
the words provide me wings which make me glide
beyond the seasons harsh and noxious mood.
Sonnet (01.09.09)
amazing how i well can hear the cries
here of a new-born babe, so many years
much later, while the parents blest the prize,
while trying then to check their grateful tears.
i hear the cries, and quickly i find me among
and up above the verdant stands and hills
which in an earlier time had taught me a song
of hope, a hymn which crafted all my thrills.
i get the feeling that the cries of joy
were mine, the cries that well announced then i
have now arrived, much like a sailor’s buoy,
which symbolized that things were right and high.
the babe must now be a grown-up man, an old
and grateful one with many bars of gold.
